Community guidelines improved for youtube creators

Thursday, September 7, 2023

YouTube has announced a new measure to assist creators in handling violations of community guidelines.

Now, when a creator violates YouTube's policies, they will have the option to participate in an educational training course that may remove a violation warning from their channel.

Violation warnings are issued when a policy is breached and serve as a warning before formal punishment. Three warnings result in the suspension of the channel.

These warnings do not directly impact the channel, aside from the removal of the infringing content, but they remain on record indefinitely.

The new development is that YouTube is adding an additional step to violation warnings.

Now, creators will have the option to take an "educational training course" that explains how to avoid policy violations in their videos.

Upon completing the course, the warning will be reversed, provided that the policy is not violated again within 90 days.

It's important to note that while YouTube is offering resources to help creators understand its policies, there have been no changes to community guidelines or the three-strike approach.

YouTube continues to remove any content that violates its policies, and creators who receive three warnings within a 90-day period will still be subject to platform suspension.

Microsoft is developing a translation feature for Outlook

Tuesday, September 5, 2023

Microsoft is developing a translation feature for Outlook.com, expanding on similar features in its Windows and Mac applications.

Called "Translator for Outlook Web," this function will allow users to translate words, phrases, or entire messages within their emails.

Users will also have the option to set up automatic translations for emails received in foreign languages and will be prompted to decide whether they want to translate an email when they receive it.

Users can utilize the native translator located at the top of the email or select specific words or phrases for translation.

Furthermore, they can set their preferences to always translate emails, never translate them, or be asked each time.

To avoid repetitive translations, translated email data will be stored for 15 days, enabling users to revert to the original message or enable automatic translation for all emails in their chosen language.

The new feature is expected to be launched in September 2023, although a specific date has not been announced yet. The implementation is likely to be gradual.

If the translation option is not immediately available, users can manually translate emails using the "Home" options ribbon or adjust translation preferences in settings.

Internal Concerns: YouTube Shorts Threatens Long Videos and Impacts Advertising Revenue

YouTube Shorts, a short-form video platform launched in response to the success of TikTok, is raising internal concerns at YouTube. While it has gained popularity among creators and viewers, Shorts is raising questions about its impact on long-form videos and the platform's advertising revenue.

Shorts allows users to create videos of up to 60 seconds, making it a direct competitor to TikTok, known for its short and engaging videos. As Shorts gains traction, concerns are emerging that viewers may be spending less time watching long videos on YouTube, affecting the performance of traditional videos.

Another concern is the impact on advertising revenue. Long videos tend to attract more lucrative ads, while short videos like those on Shorts may have less ad space. This raises questions about how the platform plans to monetize Shorts and whether it will affect content creators' earnings.

YouTube has taken steps to promote Shorts, such as integrating it into the platform's homepage and launching a $100 million fund to encourage creators to produce content on Shorts. However, there are still uncertainties about how YouTube will balance Shorts with its long-form video offerings and how it will sustain advertising revenue.

As YouTube addresses these internal concerns, it will be interesting to see how the platform adapts and evolves to meet the demands of creators and audiences while maintaining its sustainable advertising business model.

Facebook Messenger will allow you to delete the sent messages

Sunday, February 10, 2019

The rush, the reflections in hot ... there are many situations in which, once pressed the button 'send', we regret and we wish we had never done it. Facebook, in the eye of the hurricane for its controversial issues on privacy, is the absolute leader in what concerns the messaging if we add the texts sent through WhatsApp, Messenger and the newcomer, Instagram Direct. This leadership and the experience of the years allow you to know your users well and in this sense, being able to undo a shipment has always been a demand that finally reaches the massive Messenger platform.

The integrated messaging app on Facebook is used monthly by more than 1,300 million users each time (in the United States it is especially popular) and from now on it allows the user to regret sending a message. The operation, as Zuckerberg's firm explains in his blog, is simple: just keep your finger pressed on the message in question and we will see the "Delete" option, and then select if we only want to delete the message in our chat or "to all the world"; Of course, this decision must be taken before ten minutes, after which, elimination will not be possible.

Undo the shipments will also be possible in groups and as happens in WhatsApp , will be trace of our decision to appear in the recipient's chat the text "deleted message" that will give us.

However, Facebook warns that messages with violent content, insults, threats or any other content that does not respect the rules of the community, may be reported even if they have been deleted by the sender. That is to say, if someone threatens us by Messenger and subsequently deletes that threat, the recipient may send said message (even if deleted) to Facebook so that the appropriate measures are taken.

This new feature will gradually appear to all iOS and Android users who have the latest version of the application, and with it, Facebook wants to bring a little more peace of mind in the conversations knowing that if we make a mistake, we will have a small margin for repentance

Beware ! if you are spamming facebook users with the help of the fake fb accounts or FACEBOOK PAGES . If they are used to send junk mails with links and clickbaits or sharing links which sends users to clickbait websites, facebook is deleting such accounts with zero tolerance

Facebook confirmed that recently it has removed more than 800 pages and accounts in the United States only, that were used to send junk mail with links and clickbaits.
There are more on the way.

The social network said that those responsible for these accounts and pages were not authentic coordinated behavior by establishing networks to pages and accounts about their identity and purpose.

Facebook said those accounts promoted "sensationalist political content" to redirect users to websites filled with ads outside of the facebook. In the past, these junk accounts often focused on celebrity gossip, weight loss remedies and fake iPhones.

The turn towards politics indicates that these accounts are learning the Russian tricks to make people click. Facebook has been working to eradicate misinformation and combat electoral interference since it recognized that Russian agents abused their service .

BepiColombo sends the first image of it's trip to Mercury

The space probe BepiColombo sent the first selfie of its trip to Mercury , an image that confirms that, as planned by the European Space Agency (ESA), its solar panels have been deployed correctly.

The transfer module, which together with two orbiters and a thermal shield left this Friday at 22:45 local time of Kurú, in French Guiana, is equipped with three monitoring cameras, which provide black and white photographs with a resolution of 1,024 by 1,024 pixels.

The snapshot received today shows one of the panels and "it's perfect, and we are satisfied" ESA science director Günther Hasinger told.

"It is the visual confirmation that everything is going well," added the German, who since February succeeds Álvaro Giménez as the person in charge of the agency's scientific program .

The monitoring chambers will be used as necessary during the cruise phase, especially during the nine overflights that will make the Earth, Venus and Mercury before reaching the orbit of that planet, the smallest and closest to the Sun of our Solar System .

The other two cameras of the module will be activated tomorrow, Sunday, ESA said in a statement.

Although one of the orbiters, the Mercury Planetarium developed by ESA, also has a camera, it will only work when it separates from the transfer module when it reaches its destination at the end of 2025.

This mission is the first of the ESA to Mercury and has been launched along with its Japanese counterpart, JAXA, in an attempt to decipher the many unknowns of that planet, only visited in the past by two other ships, Mariner 10 and Messenger, both Americans

Hackers hacked 29 million facebook users' data, Facebook confirms the security breach

Sunday, October 21, 2018

The company has ensured that it will send messages to those affected in the coming days, with the aim of notifying them of what type of data the hackers have accessed in the massive attack.

Facebook has reported that a group of hackers have stolen data from a total of 29 million users of its platform, not 50 million, as initially assured the company two weeks ago. The hackers used a computer program that was transferred from one profile to another through user contacts and the option to 'see how' of their perles.

The company has ensured that it will send messages to those affected in the coming days, with the aim of notifying them of what type of data the hackers have accessed in the massive attack.

The breach in the security of the social network left millions of users exposed to possible Internet fraud. Many sectors fear that this type of computer attacks will end up discouraging users of social networks to continue using a service whose privacy, moderation and security practices have been questioned after a series of scandals, according to experts in cybersecurity and financial analysts.

Those responsible for the attack obtained details of profiles such as dates of birth, employers, educational history, religious preference, types of devices used, pages followed, recent searches and location records of 14 million users. For the other 15 million, it was restricted to name and contact details.

Facebook has established that the number of users affected has been much lower than its original estimate, after reviewing the activity in the accounts that could have been affected. The vice president of Facebook, Guy Rosen, has stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has asked the company to limit the descriptions of the attackers because they have already launched an investigation into what happened.

The company has ensured that it was determined whether the hackers took actions other than stealing data, such as publishing from the accounts. As they have added, no

They stole personal messages or financial data and did not use their access to the accounts of the users of other websites.

The internal investigation, which is still in an "early phase", has revealed that the attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Facebook web code that affected the 'see how' option, which allows users to check the form in the that other users see their Facebook profiles.

This weakness allowed attackers to steal some access identifiers that they could use to enter user accounts without the need to enter the password. On the other hand, the social network has taken the decision to eliminate the option "see how" while continuing the investigation.

Saturday, December 2, 2017

Google has started banning Google Play apps that inadvertently add ads to the Android device lock screen.

The practice, according to the company, runs counter to Google's new monetization and advertising policy :

"Apps can not display ads or features that generate revenue from a device's locked screen unless the app's sole purpose is to offer the lock screen service."

In this way, apps that provide features for the lock screen, which is their purpose, can still generate revenue from ads.

Sunday, August 20, 2017

Google is gradually releasing an update for its application on Android and Chrome for Android that can help a lot when searching for videos in the search engine.

When you are looking for a chocolate cake recipe, for example, several results appear on cards. This includes a preview of the recipe, a carousel with photos and another with videos, and it's in that last carousel that things have changed.

From today on the moment you view the video carousel, it will instantly begin to play (if you are using a Wi-Fi network connection).

Google believes that with this simple modification it will be easier for users to see what the video really addresses before you even run it.

It will be possible to disable the novelty and also enable it to work on mobile networks.

Google removes Gab from the Play Store, as it spreads HATE SPEECH

Saturday, August 19, 2017

The week was marked by protests in Charlottesville, USA, by a group of white supremacists, in which a person died after a van ran over a group of people protesting against racism.

Yesterday, 17/08/2017, Sundar Pichai condemned the events in Charlottesville saying that "Charlottesville and Barcelona (attacked this week by terrorists) show the devastating consequences of hatred and extremism."

And Google has removed a social network from the Play Store, Gab. The social network has been online since last year and has been used by people who have been banned from social networks like Twitter and Facebook for their far-right thoughts.

The reason for removing the app from the official Android store was that it violates the hate speech policy:

Content is not allowed against groups of people based on racial or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, veteran status, or sexual orientation / identity.

What do you think about Google's decision?

Dear Home Minister Let Mahabir Pun Do The Visa Job

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Nepalese software engineer Mahabir Pun

This week , an issue related to the online visa processing for Nepal entry has surfaced on controversy when the government is preparing to give the job to some foreign company.A lot of responsible Nepalese citizen have condemned this move from the government specially Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam who has been defending the process, as he claims the process to be a necessary process for upgrading the online visa processing  in Nepal's immigration where most of the Immigration staffs don't speak English and don't have computer knowledge that compels him to give the contract to some foreign company for certain time until we Nepalese have the necessary equipment (hardware) and the software professionals.
This has infuriated many youths who are against the process of giving away the job to foreign companies thinking that the personal information of anybody entering to Nepal might be misused. Some of the youths are saying that they are capable of developing such software where the modern system of collecting information in a centralized system is possible. Here lies the question if the government wants to give them a try, after all this will help to bring  a lot of Nepalese professionals living inside and outside the country into light.
In our opinion, Mr Mahabir Pun who is well known among Nepalese and the world for his innovation in the remote area wireless internet in the mountainous are of Nepal could be capable of developing such software. We saw in Mr Pun's Facebook page that he feels insulted for Home Minister's irresponsible statement that we don't have such talent in Nepal.Home Minister may not be aware of this man's talent so we put forward this demand here as a responsible citizen, Dear Home Minister !  let Mr Mahabir Pun do the Online Visa Processing Job.

See what Mr Pun had said in his Facebook page:
