Google bans apps that place ads on the lock screen

Saturday, December 2, 2017

Google has started banning Google Play apps that inadvertently add ads to the Android device lock screen.

The practice, according to the company, runs counter to Google's new monetization and advertising policy :

"Apps can not display ads or features that generate revenue from a device's locked screen unless the app's sole purpose is to offer the lock screen service."

In this way, apps that provide features for the lock screen, which is their purpose, can still generate revenue from ads.

Google Search Engine Introduces Video Preview

Sunday, August 20, 2017

Google is gradually releasing an update for its application on Android and Chrome for Android that can help a lot when searching for videos in the search engine.

When you are looking for a chocolate cake recipe, for example, several results appear on cards. This includes a preview of the recipe, a carousel with photos and another with videos, and it's in that last carousel that things have changed.

From today on the moment you view the video carousel, it will instantly begin to play (if you are using a Wi-Fi network connection).

Google believes that with this simple modification it will be easier for users to see what the video really addresses before you even run it.

It will be possible to disable the novelty and also enable it to work on mobile networks.

Google removes Gab from the Play Store, as it spreads HATE SPEECH

Saturday, August 19, 2017

The week was marked by protests in Charlottesville, USA, by a group of white supremacists, in which a person died after a van ran over a group of people protesting against racism.

Yesterday, 17/08/2017, Sundar Pichai condemned the events in Charlottesville saying that "Charlottesville and Barcelona (attacked this week by terrorists) show the devastating consequences of hatred and extremism."

And Google has removed a social network from the Play Store, Gab. The social network has been online since last year and has been used by people who have been banned from social networks like Twitter and Facebook for their far-right thoughts.

The reason for removing the app from the official Android store was that it violates the hate speech policy:

Content is not allowed against groups of people based on racial or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, veteran status, or sexual orientation / identity.

What do you think about Google's decision?
