Google today announced that more than 500 million devices worldwide now support Instant Instant Apps technology.
"We look forward to announcing that 500 million Android users now have access to instant applications in countries where Google Play operates," the company said.
With Android Instant Apps, users can access URLs whose content opens directly within an Android application, even if the device does not have the program installed.
Among the companies that are already working with the novelty are: Vimeo, Jet, New York Times, Dotloop,
Onefootball and Realtor.com - which, according to Google, saw a significant increase in engagement, acquisition and retention.
Android Instant Apps works on Android 4.1 (or higher) and requires developers to make a small change to their apps.
