Man arrested for raping his granddaughter

Paanchthar, April 4 (RSS): Police here has arrested a man on the charge of repeatedly raping his 12-year-old granddaughter.

The 58-year-old man was arrested on the basis of information that he had been raping his granddaughter from time to time since December 16, 2017, police said.

Girl arrested on charge of killing cousin commits suicide

Lahan, Oct 29 : A 16-year-old girl who was arrested here on the charge of her involvement in the recent killing of her cousin has committed suicide while in the police detention this evening.

Priyanka Yadav of Bandipur of Kajarnaha Municipality-2, Siraha was found dead from hanging by her shawl from the ceiling of toilet at the Area Police Office, Bishnupur in the district this evening, District Police Office Siraha's Chief Superintendent of Police Shekhar Koirala confirmed.

The girl who entered the toilet citing to be fresh did not turn back for long, prompting the police to break the door. Her parents were already informed about the incident and the Office is sending the body to the Siraha District Hospital for a post-mortem.

Priyanka was arrested along with Sanjay Saha, 14, of the same locality on the charge of hacking her cousin Bhawesh Uadav to death. Bhawesh reportedly caught the two in a compromising condition and the two murdered him for being failed to convince him not to disclose what he saw between them in secret to their families. His body was retrieved from a nursery nearby his house on October 22 after two days of his missing.

The girl was taken to Bishnupur from the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya for lack of space to keep women detainees.

U.S. federal law bans private citizens from owning automatic firearm manufactured after 1986, and requires a special license to own any made before that date. However, bump stocks, which boost the fire power of a semi-automatic rifle, are not banned.

A comparison by The New York Times said while automatic rifles can fire 98 shots in seven seconds, in the Las Vegas shooting, semi-automatic rifles used with a bump stock fired 90 shots in 10 seconds.

Former IGPs found guilty of corruption in the Sudan scam & sent to jail

Kathmandu, June 21: Two former Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGPs) found guilty of corruption in the Sudan scam have been sent to jail. Along with two other senior Nepal Police officials, they were sentenced to jail with a fine by the Supreme Court on a corruption case involving the purchase of arms and ammunition, and vehicles for police personnel deployed under a peace keeping mission in Sudan.

Former IGP Om Bikram Rana and Hem Bahadur Gurung, and ex-AIGP Dipak Singh Thangden and ex-DIG Dipak Kumar Shrestha were sent to the Dillibazaar prison on Wednesday, according to Joint-spokesperson of the apex court Biswaraj Poudel.
The four former police personnel had surrendered before the Court, seeking deduction in the sentence. As per the legal provision, any guilty surrendering within 60 days of the verdict get a 20 per cent concession in the sentence announced on the person.

A division bench of then Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Bishwambhar Shrestha had slapped two years in jail and Rs 50,000 in fine to Rana while one year in jail and Rs 40,000 in fine to Thakuri and Gurung on April 30.
The SC concluded that the convicted caused Rs 288.1 million losses to the government with connivance between the senior officials of Nepal Police and contractors during the planning formulation for good procurement, cost estimate, quotation, contracts and payments steps.
On the same day, the SC had given a verdict for six months in jail and Rs 30,000 in fine to former police officer Dipak Kumar Shrestha and Rabindra Pratap Rana and one year in jail and Rs 40,000 in fine to Shyam Singh Thapa and Dipak Singh Thangdn.
Other convicted of the case are in the absconding list. 

Two Nepalese Women To Be Deported From Lebanon

Lebanon government has decided to deport two Nepalese women from the country.

Lebanon immigration has arrested two Nepalese workers named Sujana Rana and Rosy Limbu.

These women workers are accused of doing politics even they are living on domestic working visa.

Sujana and Rosy had been working for emancipation of  domestic workers in Lebonan.They have even formed a group called "Nari".

Civil society in Lebonan has questioned over their deportation decision.They have been demanding to grant them a chance to come up with legal assistanse and find out the truth and they should be deported only if they are proved criminal.

Basnyat Appointed As CIAA Chief



Nepal's parliament on Wednesday has filed the Motion of Impeachment against CIAA (commission for investigation of abuse of authority) chief Lokman Karki.

Karki has been accused of attempting to bypass law in Nepal, misconducting and misuse of power while in post.

A lawer had filed case against the appointment process of Karki as chief of CIAA.Karki was called to present in the court but he had been trying a lot of excuses to bypass the law. He unlawfully tried to stop those government representatives of the court while giving him the notice of the case.

After several attempts of obstructing the process, he flew to Canada and applied to extend his holiday while in abroad.

On Wednesday , 157 lawmakers of  CPN UML and CPM Maoist Centre parties have filed the proposal of Impeachment against him in the parliament.

As per the law Karki has been automatically removed from the post after the proposal.
A high level committee has been formed to proceed the proposal. If the proposal is passed with the two third majority of the total number of the parliament members , Karki will be officially removed and he will have to face further legal processing.
 

Meanwhile Deep Basnyat has been appointed as the acting chief of CIAA.

Basnyat worked as senior commissioner in the office.

According to CIAA assistant spokesperson Khagendra Prasad Rijal, Basnyat appointed the Acting Chief Thursday as per the CIAA regulations.



Girl Raped and Murdered At Dhikurepokhari Kaski

A ten years old girl has been found dead at Bastekoswanra Dhikurepokhari-1 of Kaski Nepal.

The girl has been identified as Kanchan BK , daughter of Raj Kumar BK.

The girl was reportedly raped and killed by her own brother in law.

Kanchan's body was found near her home on last Sunday.

 

According to the police source, the girl had gone missing since Saturday afternoon around 4 pm.

She was found dead on Sunday morning above her home in the field.

Tension In Beltarbazaar Over Bhim Kumari's Death, Dozen Tear Gas Shells Used

13 October 2016, Ghaighat Udaypur: Police have used over a dozen tear gas shells to disperse the crowd escalated over the death of local Bhim Kumari Katuwal.

Bhim Kumari Kauwal, wife of Rajendra Katuwal of Beltar-2 Shirbani was murdered before 5 days at Betauna Jungle of Sijuwa Morang.

Bhim Kumari was reportedly murdered by her brother in law Suwas and he tried to committee suicide after killing her. Seriously poisoned Suwas has been undergoing treatment at hospital. Police said that Suwas has confessed his crime.

 

The tenson arose at Beltar Bazaar on Thrusday morning while Police along with Rajendra Katuwal and other relatives were bringing back Bhim Kumari's body from Morang.People from Bhim Kumari's Parent's side tried to attack the people from Rajendra's side. Rajendra also working as policeman was also taken into custody for the investigation.

Police initially tried to control the situation with the force they have at the local booth but called for the additional force as the crowd became out of control. Police used several tear gas shells while taking the situation under control.

Police Chief of Beltar Police Office, Bhimkant Silwal said that a meeting has been called among local politicians, intellectuals and seniors to find solution about the current situation. Bhim Kumari's body has been kept at Beltar Police Office Unit under Police control.

 

Bhim Kumari's Parents and relatives have claimed that her husband is also involved on Bhim Kumari's murder. He is also accused of keeping another girl friend outside despite having married wife at home.


Man Accused of Witchcraft Buried Alive

In an unbelievable incident, an elderly man named Tulu Sarki Thing-55 has been found buried alive on suspicion of practicing witchcraft and affecting on the relatives.

Nepal police has revealed this inhuman act after one month of his murder. The incident was kept secret as his own relatives were involved in the murder.

The incident happened at the remote Ghurmu village of Yarsha VDC-9 of Rashuwa district. After one month's investigation, police have arrested Kanchha Sherpa Thing-27, who was the nephew of the deceased, Chhenunbu Tamang-50 and Lyangbute Tamang-40, sister In-law of the deceased.

According to police inspector Pramesh Bista of district police office Rashuwa, Sangbo Tamang, brother of the accused Kanchha Tamang was dead before a month on 4th Chaitra.A group of villagers had fed human shit and urine to Tulu Sarki and expelled from the village accusing him a witch to kill Sangbo.After being expelled from the village, Tulu Sarki sent his wife and children to another area and started working in Kerung but he was called to village by the same group of people.

Tulu Sarki believed his relatives and returned his village. He went to home of Kanchha Tamang on 4th Baishakh. There they gave him some wine and started attacking him by the same group. When he became unconscious, he was brought to nearby pine forest and buried alive with his head out of the pit but he was killed covering with stone on his head.

After police got reports of some man buried alive, police  started investigation of the case but no villagers helped police to give any information. After one week's investigation, police arrested Kanchha Sherpa Thing.During the investigation, Kanchaa accepted his involvement in the murder and  revealed other culprits.

 

Rashuwa incident shows how superstitions have eaten up the minds of uneducated people in the remote areas of Nepal. Many people are killed every year on accusation of witch
including in Terai region.
